Ensuring Safety at Ponchatoula’s Strawberry Festival

Following the recent disruptive events at the Strawberry Festival, my heart, along with those of our other city leaders and residents, remains with everyone impacted. As mayor, the safety and well-being of our community is—and always will be—my highest priority. After careful discussion with Police Chief Bry Layrisson and the Strawberry Festival Board, we have made the decision to adjust the festival’s operating hours beginning next year:

• Friday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Saturday: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

This decision was made thoughtfully, with input from law enforcement, festival organizers, and community leaders. Adjusting the hours is a strong first step in being proactive—ensuring the festival remains a safe, family-friendly event while preserving the traditions that make it so special.
