This past weekend, Ponchatoula once again showed why it proudly holds the title of “Strawberry Capital of the World.” The 2025 Strawberry Festival was a resounding success, drawing in record-breaking crowds, showcasing our community’s charm, and celebrating the agricultural heritage that has long defined our city. From the delicious local strawberries and homemade treats to the vibrant live music and family-friendly entertainment, the festival captured the heart of what makes Ponchatoula so special. I am beyond proud of our vendors, volunteers, first responders, and city staff who worked tirelessly to bring this event to life. Their dedication and love for our community were evident in every detail.
While the festival was overwhelmingly positive, we are aware of the isolated incident involving a shooting that occurred Saturday evening. I want to assure our residents and visitors that the safety of our community is our top priority. We are working closely with local law enforcement to not only investigate the incident thoroughly but also to evaluate and strengthen our safety measures moving forward. We are committed to making the necessary improvements so that the Strawberry Festival remains a safe, joyful celebration for everyone. Ponchatoula is a resilient city, and together, we will continue to grow stronger, safer, and sweeter every year.
