This past Veterans Day weekend, Ponchatoula came together to honor and celebrate our local veterans with a series of heartfelt events. At the Ponchatoula Cemetery, a flag-raising ceremony set a solemn and respectful tone, bringing the community together to pay tribute to those who have bravely served our nation. The community showed its continued support through various events and gatherings, each a testament to the gratitude we hold for those who served.
A highlight of the weekend was the Pop-Up Market at Vintage 985, where local artisans and vendors sold goods, with all proceeds benefiting veterans. This market showcased the community's commitment to giving back and supporting those who have served. Local schools also joined in honoring veterans, with special celebrations at DC Reeves, Martha Vineyard, and St. Joseph School. Each school invited special guests, including veterans and their families, while students and staff expressed their appreciation through song and words of gratitude. These events underscored the deep respect and admiration Ponchatoula holds for its veterans, reminding us all of the importance of their service and the profound impact they have on our lives.
